Almost everyone one had a camera. The cage depth was only 7 feet max. so it means even cheap disposible underwater cameras were possible. There were also several video cameras including ones for rent on board. There is no processing onboard. Above water cameras were also important since there was lots of shark action visible from above. |

This was a trip that exceeded my expectations which were high to begin
with. My wife and I saw the report in the June 2003 issue and booked
immediately with Lawrence Groth, the CEO. Booking was easy on the phone
and on the web and questions were answered
quickly(www.greatwhiteadventures.com). We rented wetsuits at home and
brought them with. As it turned out we were comfortable without hoods and
pants but I understand we had particularly warm water for the area. The
shark action was fast and furious. I spent about 5 hours (5 - one hour
stints) in the cage a day for three days and on only one occasion (a night
dive) did not see Great White sharks. Sometimes there were 4 Great Whites
at once as well as a very brave seal that seemed to be teasing the biggest
sharks! This trip is all about Great White sharks and we were not
disappointed. There was a biologist on board (Scott) who could answer many
questions about the fish as well as his Great White migration research.
Lawrence, the CEO was always ready to answer any question or help with any
issue. The rest of the crew was friendly and always helpful and competent.
All of the guests (16) that I talked to agreed that this was a great trip
and many considered it a "trip of a lifetime." There are some
things to know. First, there is a 22 hour boat trip each way and
seasickness should be taken seriously. Everyone who took precautions(mostly
patches)was okay, a few did not and had trouble on the trip to the site.
Second, although there is beer and wine on board, drink and your diving is
over for the day, no exceptions. Third, you are heavily weighted (at least
40 lbs.) to keep you more stable in the cage. Even with the weight you get
bounced around in the cage sometimes.
If you were ever interested in a Great White cage diving adventure, I
would highly suggest you look into this one.
