Bubbles below was recommended by a dive operator on another island. They were recommended for moderate to advanced divers. Once we went on the trip, we discovered that the range was from beginner (first dive after cert.) to advanced. The shore facilities were none( a van in the parking lot). The boat was adequate for the total of 8 divers, anthough there were no real areas for photo setup. We did have a glitch in that 3 of the tanks were discovered to be underfilled before we got underway. The first dive was adequate, no really outstanding discoveries or visuals. The divemaster and boat captain were competent and friendly. Our major disappointment was the second dive. We left the first location, sailed around for a few minutes, then returned to the exact same location as the first dive. My wife asked about this and was told that she was mistaken. Upon entering the water, however, we saw the same rusted metal pipe and half of a dead lobster that we had seen on the first dive. The divemaster then said that our first dive was "House of Turtles, east" and this was "House of Turtles, west". To us, it was the same spot. Alltogether the dives were safe and uneventful, also unremarkable. The attempt to fool us about the secont location was disappointing, especially coming rom a highly recommended (and expensive ) operation. Also, after returning, we heard from some friends we made on this trip about the dive they made the next day that could have had a fatal outcome. An inexperienced diver (3rd post-cert dive) was left in a cavern with less than 500 PSI by the same divemaster so that he could go look for the rope. THis diver and his buddy did an emergency ascent on their own resulting in O psi at the surface for both. They reported the divemaster to be uninterested and unconcerned. |
