Enforced diving restrictions
|
None. Preferred we dive with the dive master but it was not required. We had a mix of Nitrox and non Nitrox so almost every dive we ended up splitting up half way through the dive. Manta Ray dives under 90ft, reef dives up to 110. |

Yap is a wonderful place and excellent diving. Bill Acker has carved out a diver friendly business here. Resort is excellent for a third world country. Large rooms, each decoratd in the theme of sea life. large showers, patios. Unfortunately no swimming pool. Restaurant and bar are on an old wooden merchant ship, very colorful. Diving operation is excellent. Staff rigs all equipment for every dive. All you do is gear up and dive. Water warm, wet suit not necessary. Manta Rays were mating so they really put on a show, rolls, loops etc. Swam very close so made up for poor visibility. Need to dive Nitrox so you can stay long enough to enjoy the show. Reef diving was good but I believe the Caribbean beats them here. However their fish are more colorful and more variety, not all Parrots. Not a lot to do on shore but a few night spots and places to shop. Highly recommend the cultural tour on the last day, we hired a private guide and he was excellent. All arranged through the resort. Yap has a strong cultural foundation and you need to learn about it and the stone money. |
