The good--off season so boats were uncrowded and our group of 6 got to
choose most of the dive sites. Warm, calm water. Short boat rides.
Outstanding coral including beautiful stand of black coral. Mitch Roller,
owner of Blue Water Divers, is unique--great operator, outstanding
divemaster, friendly and entertaining. Employs other friendly capable
divemasters. Be sure to do the picnic on Gibbs Cay where the rays swim up
to greet you. The Osprey Hotel is newly remodeled--tile floors, nice
bathrooms, clean and friendly. As an added bonus Mitch also is a singer
and guitar player who performs twice a week on the island. The bad--they
needed tank caps so the divemaster doesn't start out with an empty tank,
and should have taken more care to make sure divers air was turned on
before the backward roll! Grand Turk is perfect for divers who want
spectacular walls, great diving, and non-glitzy accomodations and dining.
