Glenroy Adams does an excellent job of making you feel comfortable both above and below the water. Boats were not traditional dive boats, which required backward roll entries. Every effort was made to provide a good experience. Locations were selected based on conditions and request of divers. Due to our experience, we were often provided with our own boat and guide, usually Glenroy. Corals and marine life very healthy. We were picked up daily at the dock at Palm Island Beach Resort, (we were the only divers there). Sometimes other divers were picked up from their yachts and sailboats. Due to weight restrictions on the interisland airway, we used rental gear, which was in excellent condition. To get to Palm Island, you fly to Barbados and then a private charter takes you to Union Island, where you transfer via a 10 minute boat ride to Palm Island. Accomodations are in bungalows. It is a small, intimate resort that encompasses the entire island. Palm Island is inclusive of all meals, drinks, and many activities. The grounds are lush and planted with many palm trees. The freshwater pool has a waterfall and comfortable seating. Three meals per day are served, along with afternoon tea. The quality and variety of food is very high. Our only issue is that they claim the bungalows are air conditioned, but the units were small and the rooms tended toward the warm side. Ceiling fans were also present. Staff is friendly, polite and helpful. This is the way the Caribbean used to be. Overall we enjoyed it so much, we are returning this year. |
