My husband and I hate to tell you but.....this is the best dive operator
ever! We had hoped to keep the secret to ourselves but because
traveling/diving has suffered somewhat since last year we want to make
sure Advanced Divers/Los Careyitos continues to thrive. If you are a
responsible diver who enjoys a top-notch professional operation, Ricardo
Madrigal and his crew are for you. You are encouraged to dive your best
under excellent safety and unobtrusive divemasters, Tony, Susan and Cielo
(Ricardo's son). We have improved our skills under their guidance and had
the most relaxing, most interesting dives possible. Whether you are highly
experienced or relatively new, you can learn about both technique, marine
life or both from this group. Out last vacation (third with Los
Careyitos) was excellent - dive times exceeding 60 minutes, with 3-4
divemasters in the water, even for our group of less than 8. These folks
are not obtrusive in the least, but are there to point out anything you
might have missed and insure everyone is well-taken care of. Departure is
from the marina south of town and the first dive lasts ' til lunchtime.
Lunch itself is well worth the slightly higher cost - the best guacamole
on Cozumel, with great make-it-yourselves sandwiches and tostadas, and
lots of fresh fruit. After a nice relazing surface interval (long-enough
for a siesta or snorkeling break), the second dive begins - again with
long bottom lines and lots of expert, but relaxed, guiding. This is NOT
cattle-car diving and Ricardo insures you visit uncrowded sites, both
top-sde and under-water. Their boat is well-set-up and roomy with a nice
sun-deck, a head and a good shaded area for setting up your gear. The
captain and crewman are efficient and quick to help. If your primary
interest is diving and learning with the pros, this is the best operator
we've experienced from Australia to Tahiti to Dominica. We just hope
we're not sorry we're telling the world......
On our most recent trip, we stayed at The Reef Club, an all-enclusive
south of town and the marina - we would return again. Los
Careyitos/Advanced Divers picked us up from their dock so it was very
convenient and saved some of the travel time. All in all, and considering
the very reasonable price we paid, the food was more than adequate and
varied, the accomodations were clean and new, nightly entertainment was
fun, and....how can you beat free Dos Equis on tap most of the day?
This was a great trip and we are looking forward to our return as soon as
we have the bucks!
