Diving: This was my 3rd time with Quiescence (www.keylargodiving.com, phone
305/451-2440) and it is still a great operation. They have a fleet of 3
6-pack boats, each captained by an experienced hand. This is not escorted
diving. The capt. describes possible destinations and then assists you
with your gear.

Accomodations: No one would describe Bayside Resort, formerly known as
Marina Del Mar Bayside Resort, (www.baysideresort.us) as plush but it is
located just 2.5 miles from Quiescence and it represents a good value.
The complementary breakfast isn't anything more than some small danish, a
few apples, coffee and juice.

Value: Call Quiescence for a quote but the typical rate is $89 per person
per night, double occupancy. That gets you the hotel plus a 2-tank dive,
weights, tanks & air.

If you are looking for reef diving at a destination that doesn't take a
long time to get to where you can book some long bottom time, the Keys
represent a good bet.
